EmoryCard deposit machines -- "Network Down"

Post date: Jul 19, 2013 7:29:34 PM

If an EmoryCard deposit machine says, "Network Down," whenever a card is swiped...

  1. Report the issue by logging into help.emory.edu and selecting "Report an Incident." For the short description, enter "EmoryCard deposit machines--Network Down," and in the Details box enter, "The EmoryCard deposit machine(s) on Level(s) x and y are giving the message, 'Network Down,' whenever a card is swiped.

  2. Put the appropriate out of order sign on the machine(s)

  3. Direct patrons to use the remaining working machines.

If all of the machines are down, you may...

1. direct patrons to Doc Services to print (I don't know their summer hours--you may want to call them at 404-727-6859 to make sure they're open first),

2. suggest patrons scan instead of copy,

3. sell patrons a pre-loaded copy card for $6 (and if they don't have cash, direct them to the ATMs by the DUC),

4. have patrons pay us directly for their print/copy jobs (if you do this, remember to record the payment and, if the patron does not have exact change, round UP to the nearest quarter), or

5. if the patron is an Emory undergrad or grad student, have the desk supervisor bill the patron's Aleph account for the cost of the print job (make sure the supervisor selects UNIV as both the debit sublibrary and the target)--the charge will be transferred to OPUS the following day.
