More about Printing

As you probably know, this is a tough time of year for printing. The number of students printing goes way up and consequently the number of printing problems goes way up. Here are a few tips to help us resolve issues as quickly as possible:
If a printer malfunctions, you can restart it and see if that fixes the problem.
If you are unable to fix a printing problem, put an out of order sign on the printer, but leave the printer turned on. Sometimes Robert Kruse can evaluate a problem, and even fix the problem remotely.
If a sign is placed on the printer, a supervisor must also email eagleprint@emory.edu. This will submit a ticket for the repair. If you don’t email Eagleprint, they won’t know that there’s a problem. Remember to include any steps that may have already been taken to resolve the issue.
If a patron is having problems with the appearance of their print job, but otherwise everything seems to be working fine, try printing a sample page to see if it may be due to how the job came into the printer rather than an issue with the printer itself. You could also do a reprint to a different printer.
Supervisors, remember, Robert will be on vacation for the next 3 weeks. So, please email sdl@emory.edu with questions, or if something actually breaks, or you need toner etc., go ahead and email eagleprint@emory.edu.
