BW printers fail to send alerts: be proactive!

Post date: Feb 15, 2017 8:37:14 PM

Due to a recent firmware upgrade, our BW printers stopped sending alerts/tickets to the LibAnswers page (the MFPs seem to be fine). Until the issue is resolved, please be proactive in checking the BW printers:

1. Check the lights on the front panel of each printer, especially when you zone. Anything but green means trouble. Check the front panel display of the printer to see what the issue is and attend to it.

2. Check each printer for paper regularly—not just at the desk opening or closing, but several times during the day as well when you zone. Begin with the bottom tray—if it is not empty, no need to check upper trays.

3. Utilize the Printer Status link under the Learning Commons tab on this page: click through the links under Device Status for BW printers (their names end with "p1," "p2," "p3") and check whether the Device Status is "Ready" or there is an issue that needs your attention. This is a good and fast way to check on paper jams, toner, and paper issues remotely.

Please remember to send an email to eagleprint@emory.edu after replacing a toner cartridge. You can use the Report a Problem link under the Learning Commons tab to report the incident.
