Do animals have souls? Will I be able to be with my dogs in the afterlife?
A)
Actually this is a very good question. Not just because it gets asked a lot, but because it opens our mind to the nature of of not just "A Soul", but the very nature of "conscious energies". What I mean by that is that as evolving spirits having a physical experience we have the opportunity to explore how we feel about other life and the nature of it's reality in our own.
The topic of pets and the afterlife is about as varied and complex as any I've encountered in my study of the hereafter. I've run across quite varied opinions, channeled information, and personal experiences, on both sides of the veil. So I am often struck with a curious expression when I run across material that at first glance would seem to differ from my own mediumistic experiences or research.
For example, just yesterday I ran across this channeled material from a source I tend to hold in high regard. The medium relayed this from a group consciousness of spiritual masters, "Most animals are animated by a spark of life energy originating from Source. They do not have souls and therefore no elaborate plans for a lifetime on Earth. They are/were created to assist you humans with your life lessons. A few souls have decided to have the experience of living within an animal body instead of a human body so they might experience the peculiar characteristics they never could have in a human body. This is rare, only about one to two percent of all souls. Most animals have specific reasons for existing—mostly to be of service to humans."
Now, I've got to say, This is a perfect example of what to mind is the subjectivity of messages from spiritual sources. I need to ask myself the following: 1) Do I have all the information from the original context? 2) Do I understand whom it was written for, especially in regard to the person asking the questions, who they are, their needs, beliefs, and what they on a soul level wanted to work on? 3) That said, is there subliminal context, information, and analogous meaning that doesn't pertain to my understanding 4) Do I understand the mediums beliefs, feelings, experience, and psychic/physical filter or in this instance? and lastly 5) How does this resonate to me, what can I take from it?
These sorts of questions should be asked of any Spiritual message in my opinion. I realize this takes the objective possibilities from working with Spirit, but honestly, what makes anything objective? Subjective perspective based on experience.
That said, rather than try to pick apart the message and offer explanations, rebuttals, or critique, I would simply say that my own personal experience on a mediumistic, emotional, mental, and physical level has been such that messages like this do not resonate with me.
Aside from the plethora of religious, physic, and mediumistic literature, histories, and school of thoughts out there, I've had a few experiences that for me prove animals can survive death. Although exactly what that means in regards to a soul, nature of consciousness, and nature of afterlife experiences, and nature of interaction with incarnate life.....is a bit more vague.
Without giving interpretation to it the following has been my experiences with animals as what seemed spiritual in nature.
* Erik M. has brought me dogs during clairvoyant vision. Including his old family dog. The dogs behaved just as they had in life, and Spirits behaved toward them as a human would. The location was void like space between realms or on an astral level.
* I have seen dogs and cats with other spirits as well during clairvoyant vision. Both in my house, in-between realms, and in afterlife like locations with the spirits.
* I have experienced Spirit dogs and animals in my house in a physical way. Seen and felt indentations and movement on my bed as the animal jumped on it. Had bedding move. Heard nails and feet on carpet and floor. Heard vocal calls.
* I have had an out of body experience with my dog.
* I have experienced what I felt was family members former pets as spirits.
* I have seen dogs of a friend in an environment that seemed to be for dogs alone. I don't know what that seeming means though.
* I have witnessed other mediums mentally speak with animals.
* I have physically, mentally, and clairvoyantly, and through spiritual travel interacted with non-earth animals as well as astral animal like creatures.
* I've been told my Erik and Robert that I've lived non-human lives including some on Earth.
* I've read that some spirits, especially when young, in an effort to adjust to physicality regardless of planet will often incarnate in forms of smaller awareness or limited consciousness to get used to physicality.
This said, I also firmly believe that consciousness or conscious energy is not limited to spirits inhabiting human or humanoid bodies. And I also firmly believe that consciousness can not be categorized in a hierarchy or gradation of levels that is human oriented. I firmly believe that conscious energy creates everything physical and everything is connected by degree of conscious awareness of it's nature and place in all that is. As such all energy is capable of transformation. conscious energy regardless of awareness and degree or perception evolves to some degree even though as a human I can not understand it. I also firmly believe that we as Spirits are not limited to human or humanoid Earth like physical experiences, nor are we limited by probability, dimension, spiritual or physical plane; Nor are other life forms. Although I will stress, these blanket statements in no way mean anything specific, especially in regard to the laws of a particular universe or multiverse, who, what or how being operate in them.......What I am trying to say, is that the vast majority of supposedly channeled material from the past several hundred years comes from a very human perception. And I think that there is more going on.
Personally I believe that in consciousness without self awareness or consciousness with limited awareness,... regardless of species or planet inhabits a group energy plane, of a sort, that manifests according to laws and methods unique to it and is inhabited by those of like energy. In Earth terms that could be like saying there is an dog realm, cat realm, etc etc.... But not in physical terms like we tend to think of. When we tune into those realms on a mental level or psychic level our own awareness manifests with their energy to give it the appearance of something we'd recognize or feel comfortable with. But behind that illusion is a unified energy of individualized unique soul like energy in harmony.
But, at some point those groups of consciousness start evolving degrees of awareness. And I believe that higher or more evolved consciousness such as ours can at times give energy to this evolution and cause rapid expansion. And so in a way I don't understand we can help pull that individuality into a semi to permanent manifestation on a soul level to associate with us. I also believe they can naturally do this on their own via interaction with our emotions and energy on different levels. And so, our pets can and do travel with us, and join us in the afterlife. Along with these evolving energies and awareness, I also believe that their thoughts and emotions also evolve with them. Now, I am willing to be wrong, but based on my own research and experiences I have a very strong believe in the possible continuance of Earth animals in Spirit form.

Should we play with the ouija? Perhaps play is not the operative word. Should we, as serious seekers, use the ouija board to connect with other time and dimensions? I have my own personal feelings on this, of course. But there is a lot of misconception about the channeling board, as well as legitimate concern.
So, should we use them, and if so what tips do you have to both facilitate activity and protect oneself in the process? How often do, say, light-workers come through? Did Mark Twain dictate a book through the board 7 years after his death?

Personally, I don't have a yes or no answer....
The question is somewhat perhaps a loaded question or at least one that leaves room for wide speculation.... what I mean by that is what is meant by the words "play", time and dimensions", Connect with", .......channeling board", and legitimate concern". as well as the implicit assumptions on technique, and protection, and who and whom to connect with.....

I've never used one myself, nor would I gravitate to doing so. I think they can operate in several ways. Human controlled, Spirit influenced human, and spirit controlled board. And variations of all three. Usage, and connection techniques are going to vary quite a bit depending on belief, and perception. So to recommend or advise on usage is like telling someone what to believe.
Personally I've always found this topic fascinating. Few topics in Spiritual fields hold such charged emotions in people across so many spectrum of belief. People's opinions not only range across broad spectrum's of belief, they are often quite dramatic in what they feel about it.
I have not spoken to Erik personally about Ouija boards 'Specifically' before. But I have asked him about physical tools in general as it pertains to communication and channeling of energies. Briefly to me as well as during conversation with Robert in the past, has mentioned that such things in general can become a crutch for the person using them.
Other than brief statements like that, he has not said much. What he has said, is that it's more about the person than it is about the physical object. That the object becomes a focusing tool for intent and the creation of conscious and unconscious thought forms, energies and manifestation. As well, as for focusing communication, and channeling energy both ways. Words are symbols that can, carry the energy of intentional thought. So are images. That being said, they can be used as a focus. Although they can hold the energy we assign to them, they do not hold original consciousness other than what is given to them. As such they can not manifest on their own. He has never, and (I believe) will never say yeah or nay as to right or wrong about it.
That is where the human comes in. These physical tools, be it a planchette, board, dowsing rod, automatic writing, pendulum, deck of cards, or even things like runes, bones, or other divination tool, etc etc.; These physical tools are in a way, sort of a bridge between physical and mental mediumship. And in fact the case could be made by practitioners for either case and their many variations. There is no clear cut blanket statement that could be said that would be helpful in determining what exactly was going on, in general, because there is so much variation in use and technique.
As a metaphysical researcher I find it more useful to discuss the technique used in facilitating communication or lack of, when discussing such tools used in spiritual communication. Note, I said generic words like tools, and spiritual.... because people make a lot of assumptions when you talk about Ouija boards. Assumptions on usage, intent, technique, user, and spirits, and influencing factors...then comparing that with their beliefs and feelings. If you were take a very broad survey of historical material: newspapers, journals, magazines, books; compare them with modern sources: websites, books, religious theology, etc; As well as sociological and scientific research you would find that the usage of such tools spans the globe and human history in great variation. In particular the facility of spirit influence on a physical object while being held or used by a human. It's this co-experience that it what is key to note.
On the one hand, Spirit of varied form, function, intent, knowledge, evolution, and experience may manipulate the tool OR the user. At the same time OR not, the user of the tool or Ouija board varies in intent, physicality, knowledge, understanding, experience, belief, and ability to interact with the Spirit, AND at the same time, their conscious and unconscious energy does play a role in these interactions.
Now how much of any of this is focused on and discussed will vary greatly depending on belief of the observer. Some will focus heavily on relating the Ideo motor response or idometer effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideomotor_response The effect of people fooling themselves and manipulating the board due to muscle movement and desire. Others will focus solely on religious beliefs in regards to the nature and motives of various entities and their possible experiences, perceived with their understanding or not. And some of those will focus solely on fear translated into dire warnings. But if the entire history of such things are taken into account along with the understanding of the possible variation in usage one can step back and discuss it in a calm way.
A lot of good spiritual material has come from such tools, and so I think it would be a mistake to simply attempt to say if they were good or bad. I think it's better to discuss technique of usage, communicators, influences, and point of observation. It is my opinion, that only then that true exploration, interpretation, and evaluation can occur... but that's just me... In my opinion there is way way too much sensationalism attached to these sorts of tools. Not only that, but technique, intention, tool, and evaluation are totally separate topics for discussion. People tend to lump them all together and run like the wind.
*A note aside, I have only ever used variations of automatic writing through a light altered state of consciousness. I equate it to taking dictation as opposed to a physical take over or manipulation of my fingers on the keyboard. True physical manipulation, I've only experienced a few times, and it's not something I particularly enjoy. Now I have seen physical objects move of their own volition presumably by spirit, but I would withhold judgement about Ojija boards planchette's unless I saw them move without the influence of human fingers.... soooo as far as Ouija boards specifically, I can't comment on them other than I do not think they themselves are any different than any other mediumistic experience.
**Further note. I have in the past received communication from Erik and those associated with me in Spirit via, others-- ala medium's pendulums, automatic writing, tarot cards; but, I will be the very first to tell you, unless I experience it myself in some way, I keep a very broad open mind. If, I were to ever use a writing board of any type, I would approach it the same way I do for my channeling sessions. (as mentioned elsewhere on this site).

As a mother to a four year old and a two year old, what can I do to open their minds to a wider reality, to explain chakras and vibrations, to help them feel confident navigating their time on earth? How does one teach about these on a child level? I feel like whatever Erik's answer will be will be helpful to me also.

"That there is a difference between no, don't do that because,,, and no you can't do that. That no, you are not that, is different from no, you can not choose to be that. If you choose that, you also have to choose to say yes or no to how one creates that choice.
To let yourself feel..., that it's OK to cry. That's it's ok to be mad, but that you have to own that feeling and not lash out at others with it. That you have the chance to ask yourself if that feeling is for you or not, that to ask yourself if your gonna let it define you. Or is the feeling an opportunity to find sympathy and compassion with others, understand that same feeling in others. For example, if Suzie hits johnny and johnny cries.... that it's important to talk about how everyone feels about what happened and what that means.
That's all vibrations really are. emotional energy married to intent. Know what I mean?.... It's that marriage that gives birth to experience..... Once that experience is understood,.... it generates new energy. And that energy then recreates it'self....... that's shifting.
So don't worry about what to call it, cause that's only gonna complicate stuff,.... and make more worry. Just focus on understanding feeling. Tell your kids not only that's it's OK to feel, but that what they feel don't have to define them or what they believe about themselves.
It's when we all learn to get back in touch with ourselves, that we can pause and think about how our feelings move around our bodies. It's that sensation of movement, or peace, or even balance between what we feel, and who we are vs what we experience, believe, perceive that lets us visualize what we can not see. Then we can create personal things like meditations, thoughts or concepts like chakras, or translate feelings into unseen energy movement.
It's not that we need to worry about how our energy moves, or how we perform certain spiritual things. It's all about how we feel, and what action we take on the intent we form from the beliefs we have about what we feel.
So back to kids, Especially ones that young. Just focus on processing basic feelings and being OK with who they are."

On loving more than one person on Earth vs in Spirit:
I'd like to suggest that if people believe in reincarnation for whatever reason, that people have had many emotional close ties, many in a marriage capacity. If you believe this, then it is very likely that you switch roles with those in your soul groups depending on what you want to achieve in that life. That alone, give you many different emotional experience with more than one soul. On the other side once you regain your memories you will hold a different perspective. Instead of seeing those members of your soul groups as partners in elusive relationships you will see your friends within your soul groups that helped you explore yourself across many lifetimes. You will see treasured memories and valuable experience. In no way does one life time, or one experience limit who you are, or how you behave, or the choices you will make. Rather you will see a unity of intent and purpose among souls. It is this companionship that enables many to explore their own marriage with All That Is. So poly, mono, and gymy's are just tools for life here on Earth. In spirit such words become symbols for understanding greater symbols. The symbols of Unity, and the capacity of Love.

Why is it that some spirits who pass are so afraid of the tunnel of light?

As I was reading your question on the bus this morning, here is what I got back from Erik:

"That whole in the light phrase is total bullshit. It comes from several places, one, clairvoyant misinterpretation of visual symbolism. Two, mass media and people playing with spirit communication trying to get attention or be ass-hats. Three, sincere people who don't learn whats really going on and accept what their told out of laziness, fear, or boredom. Which is fine, it's just there's more going on that what may be implied.
What that picture symbol means or stands for....it is a valid metaphor...but there are several things going on depending on ones view. If your the person dying, sometimes as your soul is disengaging from the body, the tunnel of light represents your energy pulling away and the redirection of your conscious focal point, from your eyeballs and brain to your energy body. That pulling and movement creates a tunneling effect.
Second, depending on who it is, their experience level and their point of view, the clairvoyant may perceive the space between dimensions as a pocket in or of space, of various size and shape, it would seem to be a back lit or partially obscured void. There is a lot of variation. So that gets translated back as some kind of tunnel or portal. On a related thing, the same clairvoyants will perceive that soul leaving the body, that energy transference happens through a type of energy vortex or channel. So things like this and more, get passed down from person to human group to mass media and into the popular culture without any follow up.
Here is the thing, what all this interpretation is doing, is charging folks beliefs with separation ideas. There is no going into the light. The light is now, all around us, everywhere. Its a metaphor for conscious focus of your energy. When you die you don't magically reengage with your higher self right away. The beliefs, feelings and perceptions carry a certain quality or energy counterpart that the soul has to process. It's about souls dealing with their emotional shit. Are they gonna pony up or ignore it? The dense, fearful related emotions work at a subconscious level and manifest what people think of as lower dimensions, the higher emotions manifest intent on a conscious level and create or co create what is thought of as the dimensions of light. Without getting into how all this is created, or what that can look like, what is on earth and thought of as going into the light, or passing into it, is emotional belief meeting experience, meeting intention, meeting understanding. Sometimes mediums will have communication with assholes, or confused upset personalities of souls who are emotionally beating themselves up, (this is where most people think the fear comes from, the perceptions of self created or experienced low energy realities) or they just don't care enough to set the medium right, or the perception of the situation is an emotional lesson a part of the lives of those involved, or its just the mediums filter is in the way, and more....
But yeah, that whole moving on, fear of passing into the light... out of fear....soo Hollywood. Sure people can create something shitty out of fear, but its not about going into anything. But that normally happens later, In almost all but the most experienced souls, there is someone to greet the soul personality and help them readjust. To not see, sense, or hear those waiting for you requires some intense mental focus. And even then it's just a temporary illusion. That dudes guides and angels and family aint going anywhere. And an incarnates perception of the period of time this can happen is all F'd up. Cause time isn't perceived the same. The light is always present, all pervasive, the only change that happens is the conscious shift through emotion, belief, and experience as we manifest reality to our understanding of ourselves.
This topic is really about incarnates communicating with soul personalities manifesting a very wide range of realities based on emotion and then perception of that being fuzzed up, lost in translation. Thats not saying there's something wrong with that, I am just saying never worry about crossing over, just focus on life now, how you feel, try and do right by yourself and others and you'll be just fine. Just that you ask questions proves your open enough to sail through the tunnel of love... oh wait wrong ride. "

"Dear C.E. Community,
When Spirit presents situational scenarios that seem dire to your current perspective, it is an opportunity to view your emotional reactions to one of the series of probabilities that exists for individuals as a likely to occur event based on the free will choice of the individual observing, in conjunction with the collective consciousness of the the group creations the individuals participate in.
In All That Is, what may come to pass already has, and is concurrently being experienced by some dimensional aspect or facet of the souls who choose to express themselves in those constructs. To be presented with such visions via a medium is to offer you a chance to choose your comfort, or what you fear. Within these poles you may find your balance through love or any other emotion manifested in your unique way. How you come to understand this is for you and the conscious endeavors you participate in.
You look for right or wrong, but that is a label that we can not realistically give you, for you are the better judge of that, for you are us. It is your decision as to what and how you experience your emotional perspective. Some of these perspectives do indeed have less than pleasant consequences with less than pleasant effects to your own unique causes. But these are dimensional probabilities and not necessarily understood or viewable from your present conscious focus.
Nonetheless, an aspect of your greater soul will experience it and come to an understanding of yourself through such experience, thus your present focus will participate in change. As you can see, this is not simply a linear physical experience, but the psychic journey of your greater consciousness on many levels.
To pass along this information or concept through a medium in a linear physical experience is not always constructive as it might be, due to perception, belief, and personal judgement about such perspectives. Lost in translation. As such, simply know that 'Earth plane' will always remain a place of duality. A tool to conscious incarnations to explore in depth hands on focus.
The great hope you feel now is not the promise of a physical transformation, but the promise of enlightenment in each of your emotional consciousnesses. With this new outlook, what you manifest as physical duality will become more and more in line with your highest possible self, thus transforming your world. Through this process the possibilities to enact such changes are as infinite as the choices you make as a collective society. It not only affects you on a social scale, but your very DNA of the hosts you share your experiences with. And so future life becomes a panacea of opportunity and choice that moves from unpleasant to pleasant, though still within a range of dualities, in which your physical system was born. This system is the physical universe within which you all agreed to participate in. You have a collective power to alter the poles of this duality on Earth. And how this manifests depends not only on individual perspective, but as a collective.
When you receive a vision of future life, you are viewing one of the many possibilities of this transformation. As such, it is always in motion, always present. With your current conscious focus you can not take one of those visions and say, That one, is the one I desire. For in focusing on such desire you move your awareness outside of yourself, not only with misunderstanding on how to bring that reality to present focus, you divorce your focus from who you really are and what you are incarnated for and frequently allow fears to intermingle with such desire.
You focus on what you think you want and what you may not want. Instead we in Spirit would like to offer suggestions to let go of what may be, and return to the inner self, to refocus on what lays in your inner emotional heart. To be brave and hold your emotional experiences in your hands and look closely at what beliefs, perspectives and feelings about those beliefs are generated from those emotions.
To then feel them with honesty and know that they do not have to define who you are, nor do you have to blindly act upon them. To strive to hold your true heart and let go of and love what is not you, and to embrace with acceptance of what is you. For you are always greater than what you can see, and what you can see is only limited by the perspective and awareness you allow yourself to feel, which is controlled by understanding your inner experience. The possibilities of life are infinite and full of promise. Even in your darkest hours the chance for you to understand the best of yourself is ever present. Hope is not a wish, nor a desire, it is the acknowledgement of that promise that you are ever more, one with All that IS.
On your other question. Many ask about the participation of physical experience especially in regards to perceptions of romantic Earth love while non-physical. The reason there are so many varied responses is because when you speak to a medium you are receiving information based on perceptional experience of multiple points of consciousness, focuses from different souls in the non-physical.
Some are giving you information based on their unique understanding of their personal reality. Depending on what aspect of your soul your personal focus is on, and depending on what plane of existence it is operating on, and depending on what dimensional construct it is participating on OR creating, how emotional expression is manifested and understood will greatly vary.
Many of Earth's incarnates wish and desire to retain a physical opportunity to express sexual and romantic love. Some have been told that such is not possible in the non-physical. Know that the multiverse is far more complex and vast that is being presented. There are other areas of physical and non-physical participation than are being related and created as we speak. Not only that, but the opportunity to create your own mental-emotional constructs in a myriad of ways leaves room for ways of expressions of love that are indescribable to your present physical senses. Should you wish it, you may project a part of yourself or the current focus into a body, in harmony with your state of being, and participate how you wish with those you pull to you. But it is true that the thought process, mode of focus and manifestation are not the same. Your awareness and focus shifts. To give you a blanket statement of what is and isn't, while possible, is only limiting from a certain point of view.
Let us tell you now. Let go of worry. Let go of desire that is not a pure expression of love. All else can be limiting perspective. The vast possibilities for expressions of love are far more than your human experience could ever understand. Have faith in your own capacity to love and know that what is felt in love never dies, but is as immortal as you. Find peace in what you love, and comfort in your intention.

I had a small issue with the subject of today's post.

I always find these sorts of topic problematic for the blog format. The topics are complex, and to use an analogy is like asking the weather man if it rains on the plains. Then based on the answer given without context people generate feelings based on their explored or unexplored beliefs about their perceived reality. That's not to take anything away from any statements by Erik on the topic, but it is a point.
To even begin to talk about this one would have to define the parameters of the question. For example; Are we talking human, non human, other species, physical, non physical, trans dimensional, singular dimensional, earth, non earth, type and degree of spiritual evolution, intention of observer and observed, pre life and concurrent life influences and choice. Not to mention the beliefs, thought forms, and feelings of all involved generating a perceived perspective in reality both clairvoyently and subjective/objective physicality.
All this and we bring in the terms attachment, obsession, possession, influence and manipulation without discussing context or point of origin of labels. AND how they are related to emotional intention, knowledge and experience; or how all of this mentioned contributes to manifested experience.
A good friend of mine also had the following to say,
"Also to consider is this a planned experience for all involved. I just tend to think we CANNOT know the big picture. I do believe their is a place for mediums in this world. But I do not think seeking reliable answers to "LIfe's meaning" is one of them. I think we are best served to focus on OUR experience/emotions and how we can see those as avenues to growth and finding oneness with everyone and God. Like attracts like, why would we focus on scary; When we can feel the warmth of love? Even a fear oriented experience can be turned into an angel guided opportunity if you have that mind set. "
For those who are interested, I'd highly recommend an open mind and know that when you ask questions, there is more than meets the eye, ear, or word.
Here is a perfect "related example" And even though the presenter doesn't touch upon spirit intent, spirit evolution, spirit knowledge, or experience, or non humans, he does present some really good points that ring true with me.
