On 12th November 1919, following the presentation of the plan and the estimation for the memorial, drawn up by the Rouen architect M. Henri Toutain, the municipal council agreed on its construction. The price of 2350 francs matched the money raised by subscription. The project was approved by the prefect on 9th December 1919. The monument was erected inside the cemetery as a quadriangular pyramid built in Savennières stone on a pedestal of Lorraine stone. It was decorated with a cross at its summit, a war cross at its base and the inscription Honour and Homeland - to the children of Frichemesnil who died for France - 1914 to 1918 and the names of the 11 soldiers who died. M. Langlier, a marble worker from Petit Quevilly, was commissioned for the work. The inauguration took place on 27th June 1920 and the monument celebrates the memory of the following men :
Alexandre Albert Joseph - registration number 1803 - was born on 26th January 1896 in Les Authieux Ratiéville. He was a corporal with the 8th battalion of foot hunters and was killed by the enemy on 29th January 1916 at Bois-le-Prêtre in Meurthe and Moselle. He is buried in the Le Pétant national necropolis in Montauville in Meurthe and Moselle, tomb no. 804.
Alexandre Georges (registration no; 236). He was born on 2nd June 1897 in Les Authieux-Ratiéville. He was a soldier in the 294th infantry regiment and died from his wounds in Vailly sur Aisne.
Bance Laurent Louis Joseph was born on 11th May 1896 in Cailly. He was a soldier the 1st Zouave regiment. He was killed by the enemy on 26th June 1917 at Maisons de Champagne (Marne).
Boutellier Henri Eugène (registration no. 2459) was born on the 1st April 1887 in Les Authieux-Ratiéville. he was a soldier in the 74th Infantry Regiment and died at Vaux-Douaumont on 22nd May 1916.
Creton Louis
Durieu Augustin Louis (registration no. 1438) was born on 8th October 1887 in Les Authieux-Ratiéville. He was a soldier in the 119th Infantry Regiment and died from his war wounds at Aubigny-en-Artois where he is buried in the military cemetery (row 4, tomb 257).
Mauger Maurice Henri (registration no. 2118) was born on 31st August 1888 in Frichemesnil. He was a soldier in the 119th Infantry Regiment and was killed on 25th September 1914 at Loivre (Marne).
Perrier Charles (registration no. 1275) was born on 25th October 1882 in Frichemesnil. He was a soldier in the 74th Infantry Regiment and was killed by the enemy on 5th April 1916 at Vaux-Douaumont.
Renaux Alexandre Jules (registration no. 1872) was born on 24th January 1895 in Bracquetuit. He was a soldier in the 367th Infantry Regiment. He was a soldier in the 367th Infantry Regiment and died on 23rd June 1916 at Belleville (ambulance 3/64) in Meurthe and Moselle from war wounds. He is buried in Montauville in Meurthe and Moselle, square 14/18 B, tomb 361.
Soloué Emile Edouard (registration number 445) was born on 26th April 1894 in Frichemesnil. He was a soldier in the 28th Infantry Regiment and was killed at Verdun on 15th April 1916.
Soloué Gustave Jules (registration no. 1234) was born on 19th May 1882 in Frichemesnil. He was a soldier in the 39th Infantry Regiment and was pronounced dead at Neville-Saint-Vaast in the Pas de Calais on 2nd October 1915.
