The 5 Most Important Things to Know when Writing a Book, Novel or Story
1. Join your local writing club
a. One thing I did was find one sort of near me (an hour and one half away.
b. It was not exactly the type of group I wanted. It was for children’s books even though at the time I had only written adult books, novels, stories and poems. It was an area I wanted to explore. I have enjoyed it and have many ideas for children’s books now and have learned so much about writing in general, being my own publicist and marketer and web site owner and web site master. There is a wealth of information among writers and they are all willing to share regardless of your particular genre.
2. Research the internet. There are many excellent blogs and writers helps. Be aware of those that promise to get you published (they usually want to make money off of you) unlike my blog which has my Write Coach service as a completely free service.
a. Look at information in your genre and other genres you would like to explore. It is all good information
b. Look for information on form, templates, story boards (this helps set up your story) but do not get locked into someone else’s complete process. Feel free to deviate and make your process work but also be able to take some advice and be willing to see that they have and use what makes sense to you.
