Who are you? This question is one we may have asked ourselves in order to find our purpose and our goal.

I listened to a TED talk recently and answered five questions.

Here are the questions I answered:

1. Who you are?

2. What you do?

Write

3. Who you do it for?

Children

4. What those people want or need?

To find a way to deal with problems

5. What did they change or transform as a result?

Give new ways to dream; Give new ways to think beyond the way they do now; Give new tools for coping

These are pretty standards answers for a writer, right?

It is all in the presentation though.

So now when someone asks me, “What do you do?” now rather than say, “I’m a writer.” which does not sound exciting in and of itself.

I can now answer: I give children new ways to dream. I give children new ways to think beyond the way they do now. I give children new tools for coping.

How exciting is that? How wonderful is that? And now the follow-up question has to be, “How do you do that?”

I write children’s books!
