Nikola Tesla has an important lesson to share with us

Nikola Tesla was an electrical engineer and worked with Thomas Edison. He also was financially supported by his experiments and inventions with enough money that he lived in retirement in New York hotels. Therefore, someone of this caliber and intellect must have something to teach us.

I was reading Information Week, which sends me almost daily news of the tech world. In that daily news is included sayings by mostly famous and some not so famous people; which can include some powerful and sage advice. Mr. Tesla is quoted as saying the following:

"The scientific man does not aim at immediate result. He does not expect that his advanced ideas will be readily taken up. His work is like that of the planter - for the future. His duty is to lay the foundation for those who are to come, and point the way." -- Nikola Tesla

Think about this in another way, an author does not aim for immediate result. It is not expected for your advanced ideas to be readily accepted. Your work is like that of the planter – for the future. Your duty is to lay the foundation for those who are to come and will read your articles, stories or books.

Take advantage of this process and when you start this process know that you are in it for the long haul. Also, each day for a goal to materialize you must take steps towards this goal or the goal will sit off in the distance ignoring you. Approach this goal with courage and confidence knowing that you are securing your future with your ambition and your inevitable success. Success is what gives you pleasure along the path towards that goal and what you learn and helping others along the way. Success is not a destination for if you reach success then it eludes you by saying to you, “This is success but I want more and now it is off in another distance.” No, success is that feeling in your heart today, that progress you are making today, that item you are doing right now, that is success. Take note of that feeling and keep at it daily.
