And that's a wrap! Report cards will be officially posted to ParentVUE/StudentVUE next Thursday, June 4th (they are not being mailed this year), but grades for my class were finalized and posted on Tuesday (5/26). All teachers had to have grades finalized by Wednesday (5/27), so the grades you see in the grade book now reflect what will be seen on the report card for all classes at this point.
This week we did finally watch some videos as the kids have been begging for weeks now, but everything of course connects back to our SOLs in some way (ex. Jumanji - the original - is a board game with dice, so students tracked the rolls of the dice and compared the experimental to the theoretical; Extreme Couponing shows percents/discounts; Deal or No Deal also covers probability, the odds of your case having the million dollars). We even played our own round of Deal or No Deal in one class. Students were also given the chance to create some origami if interested, exploring an art form that has obvious connections to geometry.
Today is bittersweet as I'm saying goodbye to yet another group of kids, but it's elevated because some of these kids have been with me for two years now. I know I'll see them in the building next year (some have already promised to visit frequently next year, lol), but it won't be the same as seeing their bright, (usually) smiling faces on a daily basis. I wish everyone the very best next year as they move onto 8th grade and wrapping up the middle school portion of their education. I hope everyone has an amazing summer!
