Howdy! This really (truly!) will be a fast update since I have to trek all the way to Midlothian to pick up race packets for tomorrow's Tacky Light Run ("race" and "run" are definitely not accurate words for my own approach to the event, but it's more fun that way IMHO). We wrapped up the inequalities quiz as needed in all classes on Monday, however since my 3rd and 4th block classes didn't get started on it last week, they needed more time on Tuesday to finish. This was a little bit of a problem for my 4th block due to the altered schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday for MAP testing, therefore they were asked to finish at home since it was already an open-notes quiz. The results for the quiz were a little all over the place, but those students who followed the steps outlined in class did well. For those students who struggled (scores can be found on ParentVUE), please help me by encouraging them to follow along with how I work the problems during class. All students (even those who had higher scores) are still encouraged to complete quiz corrections to improve upon their scores for this and all other quizzes.
The rest of the week in my MSM2 classes (1st and 4th blocks), we began working on relations and functions. We started by reviewing the coordinate plane and the basics of graphing and we've only just begun talking about relations and functions. This will carry over into next week and even into the new year once we return from winter break.
My honors class (3rd block) will begin working on their relations and functions unit next week. They instead were introduced to polynomials, something they have a little experience with from our algebra work, just without all the "fancy" vocabulary until now. We didn't get quite as far as I'd hoped with it by Friday, so we'll wrap it up on Monday, but since it's actually a high school Algebra I topic we won't be spending much more time on it.
Well, I need to jet so I can beat all the regular rush hour traffic but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions. If anyone else happens to be doing the TLR tomorrow and you see a group of folks in Grinch-faced sweatshirts, peak to see if you spot me with my family and come say high! We're definitely not Grinches ourselves, but my baby sister loved the Grinch and we wear it in her memory. No matter how you're spending the weekend, I hope you all have a great one!
