Greetings! I'm still not at running at 100% plus I have quite a bit to take care of before I'm comfortable officially starting my weekend, so I'll again keep this week's update quick. First and foremost, we've officially made it through the first quarter of the year! While paper copies of report cards will not go home until November 8th per the county schedule, grades have been finalized for my class and can be viewed on ParentVUE right now (directions for accessing ParentVUE can be found here). While some students struggle a bit with the topics, almost all of them still put in the effort to do their best and take advantage of all the opportunities to improve both their overall grades and understanding, which paid off very will for almost all of my students this quarter in the form of amazing grades in math class! Kudos to all the students who performed well this quarter! Keep up the good work as we continue moving forward. For those students who didn't perform as well, please know that each quarter is a fresh start and everyone can turn things around for the better. I'm here to offer my support with that, but I do need students to meet me halfway and to do their part; if I give 100% but a student gives 0%, that literally averages out to 50%.
In regards to this week's math topic, we started covering polygons, lines of symmetry, and congruence. Parts of this topic are review for students and for many, this was a needed boost to their confidence as they obviously feel more comfortable with the material (for this reason I'm hoping to convince the county to make this our first topic next school year). We were originally supposed to have the quiz this week, but between wrapping up work for first quarter grades, the early release day, and just needing a bit more time to cover some of the new components for this topic, I've pushed the quiz to Monday. We went over the review together today, which earned the kids their first grade of the new term, but please encourage the kids to study and review this weekend.
That should cover everything but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
