The week went by fast and now we've officially finished the first term! I'm still doing some final updates to grades, adding in this week's extra credit opportunity as well as corrections for this week's assessments, but grades are pretty much set and can only go up at this point. As I posted last week, extra credit opportunities were given this week. Students could complete 25 minutes on Khan Academy for 5 points formative (5 minutes = 1 point extra credit). Additionally, students could complete 5 assignments on TenMarks to earn 5 summative points (1 assignment = 1 point extra credit).
Students were allowed to work on the extra credit opportunities during the week when they'd finished their other work this week. Before they could do this, the students had a quiz on Monday then through Tuesday worked on reviewing for their final test of the term, using the county's Student Digital Resource sites (Math 7H & MSM2). Wednesday and Thursday, students completed their tests and spent the rest of Thursday and all of Friday on corrections and extra credit.
I'm going to end things here (much shorter than usual, right?) so that I can get back to updating grades. I'll also be updating my classroom site and the school's site. Also, I was inspired by our principal's jump to Twitter (@EDMS_Principal) to create a new account of my own (@MsLambieMath). While I'm not new to Twitter, this will be a dedicated teaching account where I'll be tweeting some classroom updates. I'll also be tweeting/retweeting on other things relating to education and edtech.
Remember that Monday and Tuesday are student holidays, so I'll see everyone again on Wednesday. As always, please feel free to email/message if you have any questions.
