Greetings! It's been a loooong week and my allergies have been wrecking havic on me, so I'm going to keep this update short-and-sweet. We started the week by wrapping up our work on exponents and perfect squares, taking the quiz on Tuesday. The kids did well overall, though quite a few needed that second attempt to catch/correct some of the silly mistakes they made on their first attempt. I used that to point out how some of them have started slacking up recently and to remind them to "lock in" here as we wrap up this third quarter. In regards to that, the grades from this week (the quiz and the regular ALEKS PMA) are the last for this report card, so the grades you see on ParentVUE/StudentVUE this evening after I've run today's update will be their report card grades UNLESS they put forth effort to improve upon it. Grades cannot drop for the quarter at that point, but they can go up by making up missing work, completing the second attempt for their quizzes, or trying the extra credit. Please help me by encouraging the kids to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their grades!
The rest of the week was devoted to the continuation of our geometry work. It's been awhile since we covered any geometry (coordinate plane during the first marking period and congruent figures during the second), but many students are much more comfortable with geometry than some of the other more abstract math branches. They've been doing well so far, but we'll tackle the hardest part (word problems) on Monday.
That should cover the highlights but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend!
