Hello everyone! We only had two school days this week, so we'll keep this update short. The 7H class was still feeling a little shaky with multi-step equations, so we took all of Monday to review before they took the quiz on Tuesday. A good portion of the class still wanted a bit of time to double check their work by the end of class, so I'll give them that time when we return from the short break. I was very much like them when I was a kid, so I completely understand their feelings, but I feel confidently that they'll do fine; most of the students who did submit their quiz yesterday did just fine and I'm sure the rest will as well with all the hard work they are putting into it. The MSM2 class continued working on one-step equations, which is mostly a review from sixth grade aside from the inclusion of negative numbers now. I have found that the kids have a few bad habits when it comes to solving equations, so I'm working to break them of those habits as they will make more complex problems harder for them down the line. When the kids are working on math at home, please encourage them to show their work as we've been doing in class, which they should have multiple examples of in their math notebooks at this time. While on the subject of notebooks, some of the kids have been forgetting theirs recently and it's really important that they bring it to every class as we put all of their notes and work into their notebook. Please help by reminding the kids to have their math notebook packed into their backpacks everyday.
Well, I'm closing things out here so I can get back to a few chores and food prep for tomorrow. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the holiday!
