SOLs Covered: Mixed Math 6 Review
Math Unit: 16 End-of-Year
Daily Agenda: May 19-23, 2025
Upcoming Assessments: Math 6 SOL Test - Retake (Wed. 5/28)
Good afternoon! And that's a wrap... well almost and only on grades for math class. Technically the students have through midnight tonight to complete any remaining electronic assignments or extra credit, which is of course highly encouraged. With the way I've set up the assignments (including the extra credit), they will automatically submit themselves at the time of closing, so students who started and maybe forgot to submit will still get credit for their work. I'll be doing any final edits/updates on Tuesday before sending the grades, but at this point what you see in StudentVUE/ParentVUE is what you will see on the report cards. For my class, the only change that might be made is that they could potentially go up with any last minute work but it cannot go down at this point. I'm very proud of the extra efforts many of the students put in this past week in an effort to improve their grades here at the end.
We've got just four little days left, but I'm still working math into things, however with the SOLs done, I'm able to do some of the things that didn't work into our curriculum or that we didn't have time for earlier. While a few students are being pulled to work with one of the other math teachers for remediation in order to retake the SOL next week, we've played a couple rounds of SKUNK, a dice game that has the kids thinking about probability, which unfortunately isn't in the Math 6 curriculum, though they are familiar from their 5th grade work and they'll be reintroduced to it again next year in Math 7. I also shared with them the joys of "Donald in Mathmagic Land" and while they acted like they were too grown for it, they all secretly loved it. We'll continue the math fun next week with a bit of origami, so students who have an interest and access are welcome to bring their own origami paper or any other fancy paper if they want as we'll just be using plain printer paper.
That should cover everything but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. Only 4 school days left! Have a great weekend!
