Happy Friday! And that's a wrap... well almost... not really but kinda? While we still have four weeks of school left, we did finish up the last of our SOL review this week. The kids were starting to feel a little rundown or just straight up bored with all of the packet review, so we switched it up and finished out by playing Blookets and Gimkits to review before taking the final quiz of the year (yes, there were literal cheers over that announcement).
The kids are encouraged to try to use some of their weekend to review and be prepared with any questions Monday for our last day of prep. They can also email any questions over the weekend (though I may not be able to answer until school Monday) and throughout the day Monday, but as I've warned the kids, out of an abundance of caution to ensure that I'm not violating state testing policies I really can't/won't answer most questions once math SOL testing has started (which will be Tuesday) until it's wrapped up, so most of next week they will be on their own with the content specific questions until the last of my students taking the SOL test this year have finished. Once they have all finished, I'll be happy to again help with those types of questions but in the meantime students can still look through my various resources. Of course all logistical type questions (ex. what assignments do they owe, what can they do to pull up their grades, where do they go for testing) are fine throughout the time.
I still have students who have fallen behind in work, so I again ask parents and guardians to help me by encouraging the kids to take care of these things. If a student is planning on taking the SOL test, it would be best to complete these things this weekend so they can get any final questions answered before testing starts. I have the day after the SOL planned out as a "catch-up day" but since the end of the school year is rapidly approaching and some students owe quite a bit of work still, I ask that kids try to make up their work sooner rather than later.
That should cover everything but as always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
