Howdy, folks! It's been a super busy week as we prepared for our first big test of the year, so I'm going to jump straight into things.
The MSM2 classes started the week by learning about the real number system. This is a Math 8 topic, so we didn't go quite as in-depth as is required of the 7H class and I used it to work in some additional review of our previous topics (ex. the square root of all imperfect squares are irrational numbers). From there we moved straight into our test review and I continued to emphasis the importance of taking their time and showing all work. We started the test on Thursday, wrapping it up on Friday. I'm both happy and incredibly proud to say that almost all the kids took my talks to heart, putting extra time and effort into their work, which paid off in some pretty awesome scores overall. There were a few scores that were not as great as we would hope, but for the kids who put forth the extra effort, they did see their test scores improve compared to their previous quiz scores. For the students who are still cutting corners with their work and not giving 100% effort, please help me by encouraging them to give it their all.
The 7H class started the week with their test review, taking their test on Wednesday with some wrapping it up on Thursday. I gave the kids the extra time we had on Thursday to catch up on some of their digital assignments rather than starting our next unit early. On Friday, we started a review of algebraic verbal translations to help prepare us for our upcoming algebra. We'll wrap this unit up on Monday before moving onto a review of order of operations.
Well, I kept things mostly short and sweet this week. As always, please feel free to email if you have any questions. Hope everyone enjoys what's left of the weekend!
