Howdy! My apologies to anyone expecting this yesterday. I always help on the bus loop in the afternoons whenever possible and we ended up with four double-backs yesterday, so the last bus didn't leave until almost an hour after school and then I had family plans I had to run off for at that point. By the time I got home, I was just too tired to try to type up anything and still make any sense, so I promised myself I would take care of it today. I'll still probably keep this pretty quick though since I've got a lot of other school work on the agenda for today, so let's get into this week's math happenings.
We started the week how we finished last week, working on box plots and continuing our work on data analysis. The week went fairly smoothly, though I did have to completely scrap one assignment (14.14 for the MSM2 classes, 16.14 for honors) since the site I've always used for it no longer seems to have the necessary content. Some of the kids did struggle a little on the one box plot spreadsheet assignment (more due to the technical side of things than because of the math), so if they still need a little extra help wrapping that one up, they should ask first thing Monday when they get to class. That particular assignment won't be counted as late as long as they ask for help by Monday. We started the quiz for the unit on Thursday and those students who needed the extra time wrapped it up on Friday. Friday was used as a final catch-up day for the term for those students needing it while those who had all of their assignments completed were able to play games and just catch-up with classmates.
As I've told the kids, I'm wrapping up grades for this quarter with this last unit and everything the last day to submit work is Monday in order to allow time to get everything graded and entered into the system by the end of term Friday. Grades for next week (the upcoming ratios, rates, and proportions unit, 15 in MSM2, 17 in honors) will go onto the third quarter. This is to allow extra time to catch up in case students are out (with the various cases of the yucks going around, I've had 2-4 kids absent each class most days since we returned from break) or fall behind for any other reason; students will be able to have a little more time to complete the Unit 15/17 assignments without having to stress about the Friday deadline for the end of the semester.
That should cover the most important parts of the week but as always, feel free to email if you have any questions. Kids should be thinking about their #OOTD (A.K.A. their "outfit of the day") for next week's spirit week! The schedule for the week can be found here. Show your raven pride everyday!!!
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
