Greetings! I still plan to send my regular update tomorrow, but I reevaluated our current plans/pacing after factoring in where the kids currently sit with their understanding along with the fact that the kids are off all of next week. Since we'll need to spend some extra time reviewing everything upon our return anyway, I pushed all of multi-step inequalities until after break and have promised the kids that tomorrow will instead be a "Friday Fun Day" as long as they are all caught up on their current work. This means that as long as they have finished all of Unit 11 and at least through 12.05 in Periods 1 and 4 or all of Unit 12 and at least through 13.08 in Period 3, they'll be able to play games with their classmates. Anyone not finished and/or just wanting a little extra help will still be able to get that help from me if needed, but I'm predicting most will have knocked out the majority of their work based on how diligently they were working today... it's amazing how a few board games could motivate them!
The kids are allowed to bring in their own games, but obviously with permission from parents/guardians and only as long as they do not violate school policy (e.g. no electronics and nothing inappropriate, which in this case means even some fairly innocent games that wouldn't be great for the classroom such as the Pie Face game). Some kids asked if they could bring in treats to share and I'm alright with that as well as long as it's within reason (as one kid said, don't bring a 10 layer cake Ms. Lambert has to serve up!). This is of course all option as always; I have a ton of games in class and we've got plenty of pretzel sticks from our last math activity to snack on, so we won't be hurting for options tomorrow.
Again, you'll be hearing from me again tomorrow with my usual weekly update (though I'll try to keep it shorter since you're getting this one now), but as always please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Hope you have a great evening!
