Daily Agenda: January 30-31 & Feb. 1-2, 2023
Upcoming Assessments: Q2 Benchmark Test (A-Tues. 2/7; B-Wed. 2/8)
Greetings! I'm not feeling the greatest (just a headache, but it's definitely a good thing that today's a teacher workday) so this will be a fast update, but I didn't want to leave folks hanging at the end of the semester if they were expecting the usual weekly email. In regards to the term and semester ending, grades are all finalized, so when you next log into Tyler, you'll see both grades. I'm so very proud of all the kids who pushed themselves to pull up their grades. That being said, some kids still didn't make it over the pass/fail line, but if they work hard for the second semester, they can still pass for the year as I do not give below a 50 for the term to ensure that all kids always have a chance to turn things around. I'll be conferencing with those students next week to help them plan how to do so for the second half of the year. If students are passing for me but struggling in another class and would like help coming up with a plan to improve in those other classes, I'd be happy to talk with them as well as some steps are not subject specific and can easily be implemented across the board.
One of the first things kids can do is to ensure they've completed the first quiz of the term (relations and functions) that was given last Friday to A-day students and this past Monday to B-day students. It was given as a take-home quiz due to the state SGA test this week and the upcoming benchmark test, however there are still quite a few students who haven't submitted it yet. The quiz can still be turned in (that's part of why it's being added to the third term rather than this one) and with students being off today, it's the perfect opportunity to get on top of it as well as preparing for the previously mentioned benchmark test. Students were given a review assignment to prepare for the test, which can be checked using the key linked on the class Canvas pages.
Well, that should cover everything and I've still got the next couple of units to continue preparing, so I'm going to wrap things up here but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
