Howdy folks! I'm sending this early and keeping it rather short since I've got my final training with Code.org and CodeVA all day tomorrow (these are the groups from which I got our coding PBL project) and then my niece's baptism on Sunday, so it will be a busy weekend for me. All classes are now fully immersed in SOL review and have received several things to help during this time. The Math 7H students are preparing for the Math 8 SOL test while the MSM2 students are preparing for the Math 7 SOL. Every student has received an updated version of the Smart Cards, a vocabulary list with definitions, a goal sheet to keep track of their progress on our mini SOL quizzes and the practice test, and two different work packets (one for classwork that we go over together and one for independent work that they complete on their own).
We started working in both packets on the problems for the SOLs noted above, taking the first mini-quiz on Thursday. The five mini-quizzes when combined are basically an extra practice SOL test, though this year is a bit harder to determine approximately what score can be expected with each student since all math students will now be taking the CAT (computer adaptive test) SOL. This will be the routine for the next couple weeks leading up to our actual SOL test. For those interested or needing it for planning purposes, the schedules during SOL testing can be found on the school website.
