Next week is what we've been working towards, folks! The kids took the last two review quizzes and we've been busy going over all the quizzes in great detail this week. I've been sharing all the little test-taking tricks and tips I know since the SOLs, like any other standardized test, can sometimes more than just a general knowledge of the content. As part of that, we've been practicing with the online SOL Practice Items through the state's TestNav system, going over the problems but also practicing with all the online tools, figuring out how to highlight, how to zoom in and out, etc. We'll have one more day of review on Monday and then testing begins.
I've encouraged the kids to continue practicing with the online practice items this weekend in addition to making sure their homework packet and JLab assignments are finished. We've not spent as much time on the classwork packet as I'd anticipated, so the kids have been told to make sure they've read through all the extra notes in the packet and to finish half the problems for each standard (ex. all the even problems). There is also a third packet that can be completed for extra credit. I won't collect the packets until Friday after SOL testing so that they can be studying from them leading up to their test.
I've already paced out the rest of the year and updated the Daily Agendas through the end of school, though the last week is still listed as "updates pending" since the details for end of the year activities are still being fine-tuned, but feel free to peek ahead to see everything we'll be doing in the last few weeks. At this point, I won't be scheduling any more after school help sessions, but if there are any students needing time to catch up on work or a little extra help, I'll work on scheduling something for those kids as needed.
As always, please feel free to email if you have any questions. Hope everyone stays safe and dry with all the rain we've been getting! I know it's thrown a wrench into softball/baseball season for my nieces and nephew, so I wish all the sports-playing families luck with all the rescheduling you'll be doing!
