Greetings, Ravens! This week's update will be a pretty fast one since we're quickly approaching the end of our virtual school year and I don't have a ton of new information at this point. The updates to our grade books for final year grades have finally gone through and you should soon be able to see the grade book tab in ParentVUE/StudentVUE again. That being said, we are still working to ensure students are fully prepared for school in the fall, so I'd like to highly encourage kids to continue working on our #ECCLmath assignments, even if it's just little bits here and there. I don't think it's entirely necessary to finish every single page/assignment or even every problem within a particular assignment, but students should definitely try to work enough that they feel comfortable with the topic. They should also check whatever work they do complete with the answer keys provided here once finished. All of the digital keys have already been loaded to that folder and all the paper packet keys aside from this current unit are also already available. The key for this last "new" unit will be uploaded before the weekend is up.
Speaking of this week's topic, it's our final math concept of the school year! Geometric transformations for middle school math is relatively simple since the last set of SOL changes in 2016 took the trickiest parts out of this topic and moved it all to the high school level. Hopefully the notes and videos provided are enough to help the kids navigate their work, but again I highly encourage any student who needs any extra help to reach out with any questions. If possible, please also try to join our live virtual math classes and keep in mind the "Math Mondays" extra help sessions provided in the 7th grade math group. We'll be wrapping up this topic next week and then we'll have a little fun with our final review in the forms of the previously mentioned math art gallery "project" and some virtual field trips, which you're definitely more than welcome to check out early and start "visiting" places just for fun.
Teacher-provided work wraps up on May 29th and the county is taking over providing the resources after that. We (teachers) haven't seen what that looks like yet, but I'll make sure I add it to the #ECCLmath document once it's available. While the resources will no longer be coming directly from me, I'll of course continue to make myself available through the end of our virtual school year.
That should about do for this week's update. As always, feel free to email/message if you have any questions or I can help in anyway. I send you all my love and of course hope that you are all staying safe, happy, and healthy!
