Well, wasn't yesterday interesting?! I hope everyone is able to stay warm inside today, but if you have to be out, please stay safe. Well, 'tis the season to be busy and if this clears up enough today (not looking like it right now), I've got the Tacky Light Run with my niece tonight, my other nieces' Christmas play at church tomorrow, and a bit of school work and chores to take care of this weekend, so I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet.
This week has been devoted to inequalities in all the classes, mostly covering the same thing for everyone this week. The kids have done really well with this throughout the week, though there are still a few tricks that are getting to the kids. With inequalities, the number that is found by simplifying the inequality is not part of the solution set if there is not "equal to" line to go with the inequality symbol (i.e. when the symbol is > or < rather than ≥ or ≤). This can be tricky for kids on assessments as there are always questions asking about "which numbers are part of the solution set." We did several activities covering this during the week, but there were still several students coming up with questions on this topic. They were reminded of the activities (one of which includes the much anticipated Oreo/pretzel sticks one) and that helped remind kids about what was required. Speaking of the Oreo/pretzel stick activity, thank you so much for all the folks who helped with this activity by donating supplies; the students and I are incredibly appreciative!
Just a heads up to folks that I'll be a little slower updating this week's grades, for which I apologize in advance. Between several extra meetings, the internet connectivity issues, a handful of other time-consuming things and personally dealing with a massive sinus headache the past few days, getting the Unit 14 work graded an added to Synergy/ParentVUE is still on my to-do list. I'm hoping to get everything updated before we go on break (fingers crossed!), so kids will have an accurate picture of what assignments they should try to take care of while they have a little extra time.
Well, this got a little lengthier than I set out to type (I'm sure y'all are getting used to that by now), so I'm going to close things out here. As always, feel free to email if you have any questions. Hope everyone has a great (warm) weekend!
