Greetings! I'll be keeping this update pretty quick since it's yet again pretty much the same general information, just a different set of math standards being reviewed (specifically the probability and statistics SOLs) and with SOLs starting next week (the Reading SOL on May 5th), I have to prepare my room by taking down the posters (I could cover them, but I don't like wasting all that paper). As mentioned, we spent the week reviewing probability and statistics. For my first and second block, we continued going through the packet "game style," but I had to go back to the my traditional board work with my fourth block because last week's quiz results showed the game wasn't as effective for them. The results from this week's quiz were much better, though because of the music classes' field trip, many kids missed today and were told they'd need to make it up independently before Monday. In preparation for this, I published the quiz early and some have already completed it, but if you log into ParentVUE and see that they have no grade yet, please help me out by checking in with them and asking if they've completed it yet. I sent them all Canvas messages today, so they've gotten a reminder, but I'd appreciate the backup.
I've also asked all the classes to try to work ahead in their packets so we can go at a faster pace next week with our final topic since we're off on Tuesday for Eid al-Fitr (Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!) and it's likely that we will inevitably lose time on Thursday due to the Reading SOL. If they can do that, it will give us plenty of time to wrap things up with our packet work and leave the following Monday (May 9th, the day before our Math SOL) for any final questions from the kids and reminders from me. I know these kids are fully prepared for this test, but I also know that some of them are feeling anxious about (especially when you consider that many of them haven't taken an SOL since 2019), so I'll do what I can to fully alleviate all their worries so they can go into the test feeling as confident as I do in their own abilities.
Well that should cover things (and these posters won't take themselves down unfortunately), so I'll close things out here but as always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I hope you all have an amazing weekend!
