Happy Friday, folks! It's been a rather laidback week this week since most of the kids are all caught up on their old work, so they've just been plugging away on the coding project with a few breaks thrown in to just to relax and have a little fun (walks outside, games of Jenga, coloring, etc.). Normally I'd work a bit more serious work into things, but they've done so well in the craziest year ever that I think they deserve and have earned the fun moments. I know some of the kids haven't really been into the coding while others are asking for extra, so next week we'll be adding in the Math Art Gallery and those who aren't quite as thrilled with the coding can work on that while those who want to keep coding can continue on that path.
At this point, grades are mostly "set-ish." By that, I mean that any new grades will only be little things that can potentially boost scores, but nothing can drop scores at this point for my classes. That being said, some kids are still in the danger zone from their earlier assignments and assessments and thus at risk of failing for the term and some even for the year, but they can turn their grades around still! I will continue to take work from this term (new submissions, resubmissions, first and second attempts for quizzes, quiz corrections, and even the ALEKS extra credit) through Monday, June 14th from all students, no matter the current grade. That is the absolute last day I can take work since I have to submit all grades the next day (6/15). Please help me by encouraging the kids to take advantage of this final opportunity to boost grades!
Well, I need to get back to surveying my classroom to purge unused items. I think my class supplies and resources are like Tribbles and have somehow multiplied, so I have to rehome some of the stuff to make sure I'll have room for all the kids once we return to full "in-person learning" in August (yes, August... check out next year's calendar if you haven't already done so). As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Hope you all have an amazing weekend!
