Greetings! It's been a very busy week and I'll personally have a very busy weekend, so I'm going to keep this super short and get this out early. The week has been devoted to the start of our final geometry topics. We started the week by covering the Pythagorean theorem, which the kids have done fairly well with after they got past all the funny words (Pythagorean theorem and hypotenuse) and how to say them. As previously mentioned, we jumped straight into working on angle relationships rather than having ending the previous unit with a quiz. We've only just gotten into angles, so there's still some confusion among the kids with the new vocabulary, but we'll be continuing the topic at the beginning of next week. Right now the current plan is to test the first three rather short geometry topics with one combined test which if timing works as planned, we'll start on Monday (3/25), finishing on Tuesday as needed.
We're getting really close to the end of term and as always, I've planned an extra credit opportunity for the kids through ALEKS. It's open and available for all students now through Monday, March 25th. That will also be the last day I accept anything from this term's units (#14-20 by that point); this includes turning in missing/incomplete work as well as quiz corrections for quizzes 3.01-3.04. Please help me by encouraging your child/children to take advantage of these opportunities.
Well, I'm going to wrap things up here so I can hopefully beat the incoming storms but as always, please feel free to email if you have any questions. Hope you all have an excellent weekend!
