Greetings! As you can probably imagine, I'm just as excited and eager to start spring break as the kids, so I'm going to try to keep this update short as I still need to finish prepping for what we'll be working on when we return from the break. The trend of various student activities pulling kids from our math class has continued this week, so while I've done what I can to help keep students on track, there are some that I've barely seen this week due to said activities. Please help me by looking over grades and speaking with the kids if they've already fallen behind on work for this final term. The deadline for the final marking period of the school year is set for Friday, May 22nd, but it is important both for grade as well as testing/academic purposes that students stay on track with work to ensure they end the year as strongly as possible.
In regards to this week's math work, we continued going over probability and moved onto the introduction of histograms, a special type of bar graph. Statistics units have the added complication of including all previously taught forms of statistics, but the kids are doing fairly well with it. Again between the lost time from the various weather events the past two months as well as the many activities that have pulled kids from class, I've decided that we'll do this final "new topic" summative collectively the day we return from break. At that point, we will have finished the entire curriculum and will thus be switching into "SOL review mode" for the rest of the year.
That should cover everything, but please reach out if you have any questions. Just a reminder that I do not respond to emails outside of working hours in efforts to establish a more healthy work/life balance, but I will get back to you upon our return from spring break. I hope everyone has an amazing weekend and a restful spring break to all who are able to enjoy!
