Greetings! We've made it through math testing! That of course always leads to inevitable questions about scores and I know all the kids and many of you are probably eager to hear, but county policy prohibits me from sharing at this time. I promise as soon as I get the go-ahead I'll let everyone know. On the flipside, at this time we are able to inform those students eligible to retake the test (though still can't tell them their score), so today I gave those students the permission letter for this and we'll start working with these kids all of next week to prepare them and give them a little extra push to get them over that passing line. That being said, I've got a lot to finish since I somehow found myself being made responsible for organizing the remediation sessions for 7th grade and I have a lot to finish prepping before I can leave today in order to be prepared for Monday, so I'm going to keep the rest of this update pretty short.
With remediation starting next week, I will be pulled from my class to work with the 1st and 2nd block groups, so the rest of my own 1st block kiddos will have a substitute while my 2nd block kiddos will be split between two other teachers' rooms. We'll all start off in my classroom, so I'll tell them where they'll be going and these kiddos will continue working on the coding project we started yesterday, so they'll just carry on with that throughout the week as well as finishing up any final attempts on previous work and catching up on ALEKS assignments before grades close in a couple weeks (specifically Fri. 5/27). We've run into a few bugs on Code.org's system, so the kids will still be able to email me if they run into any further issues or get stuck. I'll of course let the project carry over into the following week as needed with these groups since I'm being pulled from class, but I'll also be available during lunches to provide in-person help (and an alternative place from the cafeteria since apparently some are looking to escape there anyway).
Well, this 85-page document I have to go through before I can leave tonight won't edit itself and I still have to find rooms for groups to go to for the remediation next week, so I'm going to wrap things up here. As always, please feel free to email if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer as quickly as possible. I hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
