Greetings! I'm going to try and keep this update quick. Yes, I know I've said that before and then gotten carried away, but I learned the hard way once this week that if I don't get out of here before 3:30, then I might get stuck here until the traffic clears from the elementary school dismissal next door and I really want to get to the grocery store before it gets too late (we all know how much fun that's going to be when there's any chance of snow in the forecast).
The week started a little crazy with a snow day on Monday (a little slice of "normal" in an otherwise abnormal school year!), but we've been forewarned to be prepared to work from home if the same happens next week. I work from the building normally, so I wanted everyone to be prepared for some connection issues on my side if I do have to work from home at all next week. Comcast has been a little troublesome for me recently at home, though I have discovered that most of the time I can get around that by restarting and resending the signal via the Xfinity My Account app, which I highly recommend if you've been noticing the same (find it here for Apple and here for Android). Cross your fingers for me that I can still just come to the school as normal though!
After taking the quiz for the last unit on Tuesday (which I'm still literally begging a handful of kids to take, so parents/guardians please help me by checking your student's grades on ParentVUE and if you notice it's listed as missing, please encourage them to take the quiz). The rest of the week has been spent reviewing ratios, rates, and proportions, which has included a few additional tech tips along the way. These tech tips have included how to use the Desmos calculator to make the topic a little easier, for example how to use it to simplify a ratio when the calculator won't convert fractions (i.e. typing the numerator on one line and the denominator on a second and dividing both by their common factors until you have the simplest form). We'll continue the unit on Monday before quizzing on Tuesday, but these skills will also roll into the next unit, consumer applications.
Well, that's still probably a bit longer but I'll wrap this up here so I can do one last check of Canvas and hopefully hit the parking lot before the school's entrance gets blocked. As always, please feel free to message me if you have any questions. I hope you all have an amazing weekend!
