Well, this was certainly an interesting week! With the first part of the school week being closed due to snow, there is only a small amount to cover with this week's update. All classes took the quizzes that were previously planned for this past Monday. The honors class then spent Friday reviewing for their upcoming unit test, which will be followed immediately by the benchmark test. While we'll have some time to review on Wednesday before the benchmark test, the honors students are reminded to review everything covered thus far in the second term. In addition to all the materials they've been provided with in class, the Student Digital Resource site is a great source for reviewing. The polynomials section for Term 2 on the site can be ignored for the moment as it is not on the benchmark (it's an Algebra I topic, not Math 8) and we will thus be covering it after. The MSM2 classes spent Friday starting their consumer applications unit, which is a continuation of their proportional reasoning work from the previous week. We'll spend the upcoming week working on the rest of this unit, but students will also be working a bit each day on the study guide for the unit test that will take place the following week and should spend some time reviewing at home each day through next weekend.
With the term winding down, students are reminded to do what they can to pull their grades up before the term ends on January 27th. I'd like to ask parents and guardians to help with this. Anything with an added note as being incomplete or missing in Synergy (a.k.a. ParentVUE/StudentVUE) can still be completed. Khan Academy and Edmodo assignments that are not at 100% can be redone. Formative assessments can be corrected with an error analysis to add half credit for previously missed questions while Liberty or Lambie Points can be spent to do the same for summatives. Thank you in advance for helping with this.
I'm going to go ahead and close things out here but if there are any questions, please feel free to email at anytime. I hope everyone has a great week!
