The post concerns two rescues done in late February and mid-March. Claire from Hazel Green AL contacted me about her neighbor's kitty that had been stuck for two nights in a tree, could I help? When I arrived, I was dismayed to find that "Trouble" was all the way out on a small, shaky limb and unreachable from the tree. However, the branch was over a shed, and the kitty was only about 20 feet above this roof. I stood on the shed roof, and with Claire's help, set up a net under the kitty. Adrian, the kitty's concerned teenage owner, came out and helped also. I then shot a throw line over the kitty's branch and shook him out of the tree. Unfortunately, the kitty fell in the part of the net that was not very taunt, and so the kitty hit the shed roof fairly hard, but seemed ok afterwards. "Trouble" was taken inside for some food, water, and loving.
Sam from Cherokee AL contacted me about Zelda - she was stuck again, chased up a different tree by the same dog, but lower this time. Zelda is a sweet kitty which I enjoyed rescuing the first time, so I wasted no time in driving over. When I arrived, Sam led me to the tree where Zelda was about 25 feet up, rubbing her head on the limb, crying for a rescue. After I set up the rope, it took me less than 10 minutes to climb up and nab the sweet, cooperative kitty. Back on the ground, Sam took Zelda back inside for some needed food, water, and loving.
