"CoCO" GETS Outside
(early June 2024)
Erin from New Market, AL left a text message late on a Saturday night - her mom's kitty "Coco" had been missing for one and a half weeks after escaping outside but they had just located her in a tree across the road on her grandparent's property. HELP! The next morning I asked for a photo of a tree, and the climb looked easy which I needed as I am still recovering from some back problems. I arrived mid-morning and Erin led me to the tree - Coco was hanging out at about 25 ft in a large spreading hardwood. I set a line above her, which caused Coco to spook way out to the end of the limb. I prepared a live trap on the ground to pull up if Coco did not respond to my sweet talking. I climbed up to her limb and began coaxing her, but did not make much progress until I pulled out a treat bag and shook it. That got her attention and she came right to me. It was an easy Nab-N-Bag and Coco was soon back on the ground where she was taken inside for food, water and snuggling. I forgot to turn on my camera so there is no video.
Erin, many thanks for your generous donation that will go to Loveable Feline Rescue of North Alabama. Also, thanks to the Empire Volunteer Fire department for pointing Erin to me.
