Jeannette texted me on a Sunday morning that their kitty "Ruthie" had been stuck since Friday evening in Laceys Spring and they needed help. I responded that the rescue could be done that afternoon after some rains passed. I contacted my partner-in-rescue, Max G from Athens, about the rescue, and we agreed to meet at the home at 2:00 pm. On arrival, Joe (Jeanette's husband) met me and explained that Ruthie was a rescue kitty that had been getting bolder about exploring the outside, and somehow ended up in a tree in the front yard. Ruthie was about 35 feet up a smallish hardwood, and a 20 ft stout ladder was already leaning against the tree. Max set a rope at about 25 feet, put on gear, tied into the rope, and headed up while I did groundie duties. Max used lanyards to go up a few more feet past the tie-in point where he was greeted by a grateful Ruthie. The Nab-N-Bag went a little rough as Ruthie did not want to let go of the tree, but eventually Max got her into the bag. Max descended a bit, then lowered Ruthie/Bag to the ground where Joe took her in for food and water. Jeanette reported the Ruthie was overjoyed about being back in the house and went on a grand explore after escaping the bag. All ended happily.
Joe and Jeannette, many thanks for your generous donation towards travel expenses!
