April called me mid morning after being referred to me by the Guntersville Fire Department. Her mother's kitty was chased up a tree the previous day, and had not come down overnight, could I help? I said yes, and arrived at about noon. The minute I exited the truck, I could hear "Socks" yelling loudly for help, from about 35 feet up a thickly branched/leafed sweet gum. There were so many limbs that I just put my main rope at 10 feet, and then used alternating lanyards to climb the rest of the way. I climbed slowly, trying not to spook Socks, but I should not have worried - Socks desperately wanted a rescue and stayed near his spot the entire climb. Socks complained a little once he was in the bag, but quieted as I descended. Back on the ground, April's mom took Socks inside for food and water. It was an easy rescue, and I was grateful that all ended happily.
