"Snowflake" in Trouble
(late April 2021)
Executive Summary
I had been home for a couple of hours after retrieving the trap from Courtland when I received a call from Miss Bess, who lives just 15 minutes east of me in the Mayhew community. Her kitty, 'Snowflake', had been stuck since the previous day, and she and a neighbor had been trying all afternoon to coax her down. I re-packed the truck and was soon at the tree. Snowflake was on the first limb of a huge hardwood at 15 feet. Miss Bess described Snowflake as a skittish kitty, so I set a rope above her, and climbed on the opposite side of the tree hidden from view. When I was about 10 feet above her, I set a lanyard on a limb directly over her, and descended slowly/quietly, *LIKE A NINJA*. When I was in range, I made a quick grab. Snowflake complained bitterly, but was soon safely in the bag. Back in the house, Snowflake was rubbing on people two minutes after her release, so she can be friendly when she wants to be! I hope Snowflake stays on the ground from now on.
