I have been remiss about posting - but it has been slow until recently. This is about three rescues - July/Claire, Sept/Smalls, and Oct/Bobby, all in Huntsville.
In July, Christy called me - her kitty Claire had been chased up a tree by dogs and needed help getting down, she had been there overnight. On arrival, Christy led me to the backyard where Claire was only about 20 feet up in a large crotch. Claire was friendly and wanted down, so after the short climb/nab/descent she was back safe inside.
In late September, Mary called me - "Smalls" (boy) was back up a tree and had been stuck 3 nights. Sigh - this would be the third rescue of Smalls, and he is not a cooperative kitty. The first time he jumped, and the second time I had to use the long catch pole on him. When I arrived, I found Mary looking up a skinny tree where Small was hanging out at about 40 feet, yowling loudly. Fortunately, there was a large tree right next to it, so I set my line at about 60 feet and started up. When I got even with Smalls, he retreated but fortunately could not go very far - I knew that if I tried to grab him that he would jump. So I climbed above him, and then was able to use my small rescue pole to nab him. I put him in the sack and brought him down, where Mary took him inside for food, water, and loving.
In early October, Carly called me - their family kitty "Bobby" had been stuck overnight and needed a rescue. When I arrived, Carly led me to a neighbor's house where we bushwhacked though the jungle backyard to reach the tree. Bobby was only at about 25 feet, and Carly's hubby had tried a ladder which was about 5 feet too short. It was easy to set a rope above Bobby, and was soon at height with the friendly guy and he went into the cat bag with no complaints. Back on the ground Carly took him home for recovery.
All three rescues ended happily. Christy and Mary, many thanks for your donations which went to a local animal rescue.
