Jerry called me - he and his wife's rescue kitty 'Shadow' had been stuck for four nights up a tree in Guntersville AL and they needed help. Meow Max had rescued Shadow previously back in April - the situation was similar, one of their dogs had gotten rambunctious and had chased Shadow up a tree (even though they are buddies). On arrival, I found Shadow about 30 feet up a hardwood tree sitting in a crotch next to the trunk, crying for help. Jerry helped me set a rope at about 50 ft and I was soon climbing. I was a bit worried about Shadow climbing further up the tree, as he had jumped on Max during the previous rescue. This time, I was able to get above Shadow, but he got nervous and went out a little ways on his limb. This was ok, as it meant that he could not go further up the tree. I pulled myself over to him and Shadow patiently stayed put while I put my Kat bag on my right hand. I had to grab Shadow with my left hand, but was able to drag him off the limb and into my lap, where I transferred him to my right hand and bagged him. He was calm throughout the procedure and was soon back on the ground in Jerry's hands. I love happy endings!
Jerry and Trudy, many thanks for your generous donation which went to a local animal rescue.
