"KitCat"/"Callie" - Two Kitties in Trouble
(late December 2020)
Executive Summary
I received a text from Julie - their family kitty, 'KitCat', had been stuck in a tree for three days in Richland, MS, could I help? I drove down the next day, and was met by Julie, Josh (her husband), and Savannah (their young daughter who was especially worried about her kitty). KitCat was at the end of the first accessible limb of a large pine, sitting in a squirrel nest, crying for help. I quickly established a rope in the tree was soon at height with KitCat. She made the rescue easy by standing, stretching, and coming to me for a routine Nab-N-Grab. Back on the ground, the entire family took KitCat into the house for food and water.
On the drive down to Richland, I received a call from Mr Jack in Calhoun County, his kitty "Callie" had been stuck for three days in his front yard, could I help? I told him that I would drive down the next day. Mr. Jack met me at the square in Calhoun City the next morning, and then guided me to his house in the country that was in deeply forested pine woods. Callie was about 25 feet up a hardwood tree, crying softly every now and then. I established a rope and ascended. As I drew near Callie, she became agitated, and tried to escape down the trunk on the other side of the tree. I was able to nab her before she got underway as I was afraid that she would fall. She fussed a bit in the cat bag, but was soon back on the ground with Mr. Jack. Hopefully, Callie will not repeat this adventure any time soon!
Mr. Jack -- many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
