"Elaine" Stuck Overnight

(late November 2018)

Executive Summary

"Elaine", a one year old tabby rescued as a kitten by Anita, was stuck overnight in a hardwood tree in Oxford MS. On arrival, I was met by Scott and Grant (adult son), who led me back into the woods where Anita had kept vigil over Elaine. The kitty was at about 30 feet and crying loudly. During rope setup, Elaine went out on her limb, disturbed by the activity in her tree. After attaching to the rope, I started tightening it, causing a small limb above Elaine to shake wildly. Scared, Elaine came back to the trunk, and then shimmied down in order to escape the tree monster. Upon reaching the ground, she headed for the house with Anita following. Fifteen minutes later she was purring and enjoying food and water. Scott and Grant, thanks for helping pack the gear to/fro the tree. Scott and Anita, many thanks for your extremely generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
