"Ember" - A Quick Rescue On New Years Day
(early January 2018)
Executive Summary
"Ember", a 1 year old tortie, greeted the New Year by being stuck 20 feet up a small tree in Ridgeland MS in below-freezing temperatures. Her mom, Jennifer, had spent between 12 am and 3 am on New Years morning trying to coax her out of the tree. Rob (Jennifer's husband) was out of town and could not help, but he was able to contact me that afternoon about the kitty. The temperature was going to be in the teens that night and they were very worried about the kitty. I packed up the truck and left immediately, wanting to complete the rescue before dark. I arrived at about 5 pm and was met by Kate (10 year old daughter) and Jennifer. Kate led me to the tree, and as we approached, Ember decided that she had enough tree time, jumped out of the tree, and headed for the house. All were happy that Ember was out of the tree and out of the cold! Many thanks to Jennifer for your very generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society and for the Visa gift card!
