"Kitty" - First Rescue of the New Year

(early January 2021)

Executive Summary

"Kitty" self-adopted Joy and Jim a few months back, arriving skin and bones but now healthy and happy. Somehow, Kitty became stuck 40 feet up a hardwood in their yard and could not find his way back down. Kitty was in the tree for three days in Pope, MS before Joy was referred to me by a Facebook friend. On arrival, I was met by Joy, April (Joy's adult daughter), and Justin (adult grandson). Kitty was in a tree beside the drive way, so unpacking was quick and I soon had a rope in the tree at 60 feet. Kitty was on a small branch stub at 40 feet and remained calm during rope setup. April and Justin held a tarp as I ascended. Kitty waited patiently for me to arrive, and allowed me to Nab-N-Bag him with only a few complaints. Joy took charge of Kitty on the ground and brought him to their enclosed porch for food and water. I scanned for a microchip to determine if he had a previous owner, but no chip was found. Hopefully Kitty will not repeat this adventure! Joy and Jim, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
