I received a voice mail from Hecate, her kitty 'Spook' had been stuck for two days in a tree near Water Valley, MS -- help! When I arrived, Hecate led me down a hill behind the house to a row of pine trees. Spook was about 30 feet up one of them, crying her heart out. She did not move an inch while I put a rope in the tree, and remained calm as I climbed towards her. Spook did not struggle during the Nab-N-Bag, and was soon back on the ground with Hecate. Spook was happy to be home and hopefully will remain on the ground in the future!
After I returned from the Spook rescue, Meg from Oxford messaged me about her kitty, Charlie. She was currently up a tree in the backyard and would not come down. I told Meg to contact me the next morning with a status update. Overnight, Charlie went higher in the tree to about 40 feet, so the next morning I went to Oxford. Lee (roommate) helped me carry gear to the tree. Charlie was crying loudly, moving between a couple of different unions, trying to get down. I put a rope just above her position, and started climbing. Charlie was so desperate for a rescue that she moved down about 5 feet, using some small twigs and nearly falling a couple of times. I finally reached Charlie and she went happily into the Cat Bag. Back on the ground, Lee took her inside for food and water. Later, Lee sent me a picture of Charlie snuggling with his dog, happy to be safe.
