MeowMax contacted me - there was a kitty that had been stuck up a tree in Huntsville since the previous day and he was out of town -- he needed to pass this rescue off to me. I contacted Hannah, and arranged to do the rescue - she was only 20 minutes away. Hannah met me on arrival, and led me to the tree where "Ollie" was hanging out at about 25 feet. They were unsure as to what chased him up the tree, possibly Ollie got spooked by a thunderstorm the previous night. There was already a 20 ft ladder against the tree. Earlier, Ollie had been a bit lower, and Hannah's brother was able to get his hand on Ollie but he did not feel safe trying to pull Ollie off the tree while he was at the tip-top of the shaky ladder and using the the other hand to hang on to the tree. That was a good call, wrangling a cat requires both hands! I tried setting a rope above Ollie but my rope got stuck on a nub going through the target union, and Ollie began looking nervous with all the limb shaking during rope placement. The last thing I wanted was Ollie going higher, so I gave up on the main rope and just climbed the convenient ladder, using my two lanyards on nearby limbs to anchor me. Ollie liked my Churu (PRODUCT PLACEMENT!!!) treat, and while he was focused on that I nabbed him with the cat bag. Back on the ground, Ollie was taken back to the safety of the house. All ended well!
