"Sooty" Goes Way High

(early July 2021)

Executive Summary

"Sooty", a rescue Siamese named due to her sooty face, is an indoor kitty that escaped outside in Jackson MS and promptly went up a large pine tree, much to the dismay of Hannah. Initially, Sooty was only 20 feet high, but a well meaning 'helper' tried to get her down by spraying water, and this caused to her to climb to 40 feet, which was her height when I arrived. I tried setting a line at 50 feet, but this spooked her, causing Sooty to climb all the way to 80 feet. I tried several times to set a line at 60 feet, but finally gave up, and set it at 50 feet. After climbing to the tie-in point, I used lanyards to climb the rest of the way to Sooty. She was happy to see me and I soon had Sooty in the bag. Back on the ground, Hannah took her inside to re-unite Sooty with the other doggie/kitty friends that lived with Hannah. I was glad that Sooty did not run from me when I reached her, as there was still more pine tree for her to climb!
