"FatFat" Is A Sweetheart
(early July 2021)
Executive Summary
After the Sooty rescue, I drove over to Brandon to rescue "FatFat". Kira told me that FatFat, a young Tortie, had disappeared three weeks prior, and had been located in a tree near the house three days prior. It was unknown how long FatFat had been in the tree, probably much longer. I had referred the rescue to Jonathan Sanch, who has done many rescues in the Jackson area, and he had tried the previous day but steady rain stymied the rescue. Jonathan left a basket hanging under FatFat's branch, hoping she would climb in overnight, but no luck. Since I was already in the area, I did the rescue since Jonathan did not know when he could come back. FatFat was at about 35 feet in a large oak. I set a line, and began climbing. FatFat watched me carefully, and decided that I was friendly once I pulled out the treat bag. FatFat made the Nab-N-Bag an easy task, and was soon back on the ground. Kira took her inside for food, water, rest. Bridgett, a neighbor, brought a wash cloth, soap, and a hose for me to wash any poison ivy since the tree was infested with it. Other than some weight loss, FatFat looked fine. Kira is going to keep FatFat inside for a while until she fully recovers. Bridgett, many thanks for your generous donations to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
