"Tigger" Trouble

(late August 2021)

Executive Summary

Tigger was in trouble, he had been stuck 35 feet up up a pine tree for four days near Sturgis MS, and local rescue attempts had failed. His mom, Christina, was given my number by the local fire department, and I met her at the tree on a surprisingly pleasant Saturday August morning. Tigger was near the top of the smallish pine, with no good limbs to set a rope. So, I stem climbed up to him, using my extendable light weight boat hook to advance the cinch up the trunk. It was still slow going, but after about 20 minutes of climbing, I was at height with Tigger. The sweet orange boy was happy to see me, and went into the KatBag with no complaints. Back on the ground, Christina brought Tigger inside for some much needed food and water. It was unknown what chased Tigger up the tree, hopefully it will not happen again!
