Rita from Albertsville Alabama messaged me - her family kitty "Garfield" had been stuck for three nights through cold and rain - help! When I arrived and exited the truck, there was no doubt what tree Garfield was in as he was screaming loudly for help. I was joined by Tanner, (Rita's nephew) and when we walked up to the tree Garfield looked like he might try to jump down. I ran back to the truck and grabbed the net, which Tanner held throughout the rescue just in case Garfield did try to jump. During the rope setup, Garfield retreated to the end of a long limb which was opposite of the rope location. Once I was a height with Garfield, I tried coaxing him but Garfield just sat still, making sad noises with his eyes closed. I worked my way around the tree and set myself up for a limb walk using a secondary lanyard. I was about to try a food-on-a-stick bribe before limb walking but Garfield suddenly decided that I was an OK guy and came right to me. I was unprepared and it took me a while with him on my lap to get him into the bag. Garfield was calm during the process and was soon safe in the bag. Back on the ground, Tanner took charge and brough him to Rita's house for food, water and warmth. All ended happily! Thanks to the Albertsville Fire Department for referring Rita to me.
