Abby texted me - her young kitty "Squeaky" had been chased up a tree by a neighbor's dog and had been stuck for three days. They had tried a couple of different things (ladder, platform) but were unable to rescue him. I arrived the next day and met Abby at the tree in the backyard where Squeaky was hanging out at 25 ft. I climbed the 20 ft step ladder next to the tree and was almost able to reach Squeaky, but was not stable enough for a safe rescue. I climbed down, put my harness, and used my extendable boat hook to put my climbing hook and a lanyard on Squeaky's limb. He was interested in all of this, and kept playing with my lanyard as I climbed. He accepted some head scritches when I reached him, and went into the bag with no complaints. Back on the ground, Abby took him inside for some long delayed food, water, warmth and loving. Abby, many thanks for your generous donation that will go to a local animal rescue in Huntsville AL.
