I arrived at the house in Starkville where "Sylvester" was stuck just in time to see a large SFD firetruck pull up and three fireman get out. Yep, this must be the right place! "Sylvester" was stuck 50 feet up a large pine tree in Michelle and Brian's backyard, two door's down from Ashley and Sam, Sylvester's people. Michelle had called SFD while Ashley called me. The nice firemen told Michelle there was no way they could help as there was no access to the tree. I walked up, introduced myself, and told them, "Don't worry, I've got this" (YES, I HAVE BEEN SECRETLY WANTING TO DO THAT FOR YEARS!). They left, and we all got to the business of Sylvester's rescue. We first put out a net under him as he was way out on a small limb. Then, I established a climbing rope and tunneled up through the heavy poison ivy using some pruning shears lent to me by Michelle. During the climb, Sylvester came back to the main trunk and was happy to see me when I reached him, making for an easy nab-N-bag. Back on the ground, Sam took charge of Sylvester and brought him home for food, water, and cuddles. Hopefully he will stay on the ground from now on! Ashley and Sam, many thanks for your generous donation to the Oktibbeha County Humane Society!
